Open Studio Orientation Appointment
The orientation appointment at the Holland Arts Council's open ceramics studio is designed to provide newcomers with a comprehensive understanding of the studio's policies, procedures, and equipment. It is a prerequisite for accessing the studio for any subsequent appointment.
During the orientation, a member of our knowledgeable staff will guide you through the studio's facilities, including the various types of equipment available, such as pottery wheels, kilns, and hand-building tools. They will also provide you with a detailed overview of the studio's safety guidelines, including proper tool usage, clay handling, and kiln operations.
You will also receive an introduction to the studio's firing and glazing processes and a demonstration of the different techniques you can use to create your ceramic pieces.
At the end of the orientation, you will be asked to sign a waiver that acknowledges your understanding of the studio's rules and regulations. You will then be eligible to schedule your first appointment and begin your ceramics journey at the Holland Arts Council's open ceramics studio.
We encourage all newcomers to take advantage of this informative orientation, as it is essential for creating a safe and productive environment for all studio users.
