The Holland Area Arts Council is a nonprofit arts organization based in Holland, Michigan.
For nearly 60 years, we’ve served as a creative hub along Michigan’s lakeshore - offering exhibitions, art classes, public programs, and partnerships that invite everyone to engage with the arts.
We believe art should be for everyone. That’s why we prioritize inclusive education programs, free and low-cost events, and projects that celebrate the arts and people of our region. Whether you're visiting a gallery, taking a class, or participating in a community initiative, you belong here.
At HAAC, we’re not just an arts center - we’re a space for learning, dialogue, and belonging.
EXHIBITIONS
We are honored to showcase three professional galleries: the Barbara H. Padnos Gallery, the Jane Armstrong Gallery, and the Lievense Gallery. Here we offer a range of exhibitions that highlight the work of local, regional, and emerging artists. Our galleries feature contemporary art, community-based projects, and multidisciplinary work that invites reflection, dialogue, and connection. Exhibitions change regularly, so there's always something new to experience.
ADULT ART CLASSES
Our adult classes are open to everyone - whether you're picking up a pencil for the first time or expanding your practice as a working artist. Taught by a range of experienced instructors, including practicing artists and professional art educators, our courses are designed to be welcoming, challenging, and skill-building.
Offerings include drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and more. No matter your experience level, you’ll find a place to grow creatively in community.
YOUTH ART CLASSES
Our youth programs invite kids and teens ages 5–17 to explore, create, and grow as artists. Classes are taught by a team of professional art educators and working artists who understand how to support both emerging skills and creative confidence.
Students experiment with a variety of media—including drawing, comics, painting, ceramics, and sculpture—in a supportive environment that balances structure with imagination. Whether they’re trying something new or deepening an existing passion, young artists of all levels are welcome.
ADULT CERAMICS CLASSES
Our ceramics studio offers classes and open studio time for adults at all experience levels—from beginners learning the basics to experienced artists refining their practice.
Classes are taught by skilled ceramicists and art educators, and cover wheel throwing, handbuilding, surface design, and glazing techniques. Open Studio access is available for those enrolled in classes or with prior experience. The space includes pottery wheels, handbuilding tools, a glaze lab, and full kiln firing services - all in a welcoming, community-oriented environment.
DONATE
When you give to the Holland Area Arts Council, you're investing in creativity, access, and community connection. Your support helps us provide free programs, youth scholarships, public art projects, and professional opportunities for regional artists.
Every donation - no matter the size - directly supports our mission to make the arts accessible to all in the Lakeshore region.
VOLUNTEER
Volunteers make our work possible. From helping at events to preparing classrooms or greeting gallery visitors, volunteers bring energy, care, and generosity into every corner of HAAC.
Whether you're an artist, a student, or someone who simply loves the arts, we welcome you to share your time and talents with us.
