Meet our juror!

Bux earned their Master of Fine Arts in painting degree at Kendall College of Art and Design in 2021 after a 10-year freelance career in the midwest indy-comic book industry. Their undergraduate degree is also from Kendall in Illustration. Bux uses their knowledge and experience as a queer artist to explore themes of hyper-femininity, gender constraints, related gender roles, and other activist subjects in their current work.

Bux's work is driven by color and individuality, often using multiple mediums. They include fabric, glitter, sequins, and decoupage in many of their works, and acknowledges that these mediums are traditionally related to or thought of as women's hobby materials, hoping to elevate these crafts into higher art forms.

Bux seems themselves as a true artist that works in multiple art fields. They love to play, connect, and educate on art, gender, and sexual identities. They are based in Grand Rapids, MI.
