Arleta Pech Watercolor Workshop Masterclass Learn Nationally known Arleta's process for creating dazzling and detailed watercolor paintings. You will learn to artfully set up a still life with objects she will bring. You may work from life or photograph the arrangement and draw your own composition. She will have the available option to borrow a transfer of her composition and she will demonstrate step by step. Learn how to use the Harmonic Armature on complicated still lifes, then watch as she demonstrates watercolor techniques on glazing to build values and dark backgrounds that were seen in her book "Painting Fresh Florals in Watercolor" published in 1998 and sold over 35000 copies. Boxed lunches will be available for purchase during the workshop. A supply list will be emailed upon registration. Easy Artisan No-Knead Bread Workshop Instructor: Ken Freestone This bread class provides easy to understand instructions and a no knead process based on the Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes recipes. Ken Freestone will show you how to make bread at home with simple tools and ingredients, store your dough for up to two weeks, and have dough ready to bake (bread, pizza, Naan, rolls and more) in the time it takes to heat your oven. No experience is necessary, and all participants will taste samples, bake bread, make dough, and leave with a fresh loaf of bread to take home. Calligraphy Workshop Instructor: Jane Ewing A workshop designed for beginning and intermediate calligraphers who will receive step-by-step instructions to guide them in learning a gentle Gothic script using a traditional broad-edged pen. Pack a lunch to eat while watching Jane’s PowerPoint presentation on “The Fine Art of Calligraphy.” Materials included: pens, cartridges, paper, and exemplars. One day • Saturday • October 13 • 9:00 - 4:00 pm • $95 ($90) REGISTER Learn to Paint Landscapes & Seascapes in Oil Instructor: Douglas David Class will cover the basic principles of oil painting with regard to landscape and seascape painting. Discussions and lectures on basic composition, massing, building form, light and shadow, near and far, capturing and developing atmospheric distance and depending on your own style, knowing when awork is finished (learning how to not overwork you painting). Students will work in their own style/technique so that the finished work is their own. Douglas will overview his palette and concepts his work entails. After a brief morning intro and a time to mix palettes, Douglas will have various studies of both landscapes and seascapes and will demo most all of them. The entire workshop will take place in studio and all work will be done from photos Douglas provides. Depending on the skill level of each student, students are able to grow and develop at a rate that is to their comfort. Demos and individual discussions/instruction will help each student to begin to reach the preliminary goals they are striving to meet. Plan to produce several studies and at least one larger painting. Plan to bring a notebook/sketchbook and enjoy some demos along with some great stories to help you remember.
