Début 2021 Regional High School Art Competition
The Holland Area Arts Council presents Début, the 41st annual Regional High School Art Competition. The Holland Arts Council has selected a number of pieces of student artwork submitted by area high schools. The Arts Council is proud of the consistent quality of the works offered by our area schools and we applaud the hard work and dedications of the area's talented art instructors especially during this challenging year. The exhibition creates the opportunity to share meaningful art with the wider community and to involve the youth.
This year, the exhibition will look quite different in order to comply with COVID-19 guidelines. The Début Student Show exhibit will take place online with a special tribute to the instructors. This year's juror is Maggie Bandstra, a longtime, recently retired art instructor for Hudsonville Schools and professional artist. The competitive nature of a juried show creates a large degree of excitement around the exhibition. Cash rewards are provided by local donors and the Holland Friends of Art. More significant than the awards given is the creative process which all the students experience. Début will be presented online on the Holland Area Arts Council's website from March 11th - April 24th, 2021. The Holland Area Arts Council is. supported in part by The Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and The National Endowment for the Arts. |
