Spring Break Camp: Mid Century Masters!
We introduce young creatives to Mid Century Modern artists the fun way! We’ll learn about Jackson Pollock by making a Jackson Pollock painting! We’ll make inventive Calder-like jewelry and screen print like Andy Warhol. And we won’t forget the Louise Bourgeois spiders to celebrate this exciting time in Art History. Can we fit in cookies made like George Nelson Herman Miller clocks? We think yes! An exhibition of the work will be on display on Friday at 3:30pm.
Ages 8-12 • 4 days • Tuesday-Friday • April 4-7 • 1:00-4:00 pm • $95 ($90) • Siblings $75 ($65)
Fine Arts Camps
The Joy of Painting: A Teen Workshop Intensive
Get a taste of art school in this workshop! Learn how to prepare a canvas or board, understand brushes, tools and mediums. Students will plan a painting using reference material and value sketches. The instructor will introduce classic and unique techniques, color mixing and all the necessary basics for a strong painting foundation. Just like in a college painting class, what happens with a completed painting is important too; so, on the last day, students will critique and exhibit their work. Supplies are included. Limited scholarships are available by contact Mary Sundstrom at email@example.com for more information.

8th St. Fine Arts Camp: The Dots of Yayoi a Modern Master
Go crazy with the Polka Dot Queen! Eighty-seven-year-old Japanese pop artist, Yayoi Kusama, created multicolored, mind-bending “infinity rooms.” We’ll learn all about Yayoi and make work to honor her. Using mirrors, paint and boxes we create mini infinity rooms to mimic Yayoi’s rooms. We’ll also celebrate her love of dots with polka dotted painted sculpture and artworks. Mid-week we’ll spend an afternoon creating pop art food. What’s that? Sign up to see! Bring your sense of adventure!

Nancy Crow Quilting Camp
Have you heard of the colorful, modern and simple quilts of modern master Nancy Crow? We’ll design, cut and sew our own versions in this four-day camp! Last year we had such a blast making quilts, so we are offering it again this year. Each child goes home with a pieced and tied quilt and the beginning of a lifetime love of sewing.

Whistle While You Work (or Play)
In this camp we make whistles and games. The creative challenge is to hand build a sculpture that makes sound! On the second day we make chess or checker pieces. Kids will get a board and a bag to keep it all together. This year we have all new clay, colors, processes and an awesome new teacher! Kids build the pieces and underglaze them right away. The work dries for a week and is fired one time. Then you get to pick it up to bring home and play!

It’s MY Life! Pop Art Portrait and Coiled Family Tree
It’s all about you, kid. We create a fun self-portrait on a slab of clay. Much better than the usual selfie! On the second day, we coil up a tree that illustrates your loved ones. This year we have all new clay, colors, processes and an awesome new teacher! Kids build the pieces and underglaze them right away. The work dries for a week and is fired one time. Then you get to pick it up to bring home!

Give Your Toad a Home
Make a mini-decorative cave for the backyard toad to chill out in. They will be so grateful in the summer heat! For their entertainment (and yours), we’ll create colorful and musical wind chimes for the patio. Give your backyard a lift. This year we have all new clay, colors, processes and an awesome new teacher! Kids build the pieces and underglaze them right away. The work dries for a week and is fired one time. Then you get to pick it up to bring home!

Centrifugal Force Wheel Workshop
Learn to toss a pot on the wheel. It’s a fun challenge to prepare, ball and center the clay on the wheel. Once you have that, you can use your hands to push and pull a form. It takes concentration and focus. Better than any puzzle game. This year we have all new clay, colors, processes and an awesome new teacher! Kids build the pieces and underglaze them right away. The work dries for a week and is fired one time. Then you get to pick it up!
