PASTEL PAINTING WORKSHOP (WP)
Instructor: Patricia Dee
This rich, color-loaded medium has been used for centuries to create masterpieces. You will be surprised at how easy and versatile working with pastels can be. Award-winning artist Patricia Dee will lead you in creating two or three paintings, with lessons in under-painting, building up color, painting on different surfaces, and preserving your work. The day will be filled with color and accomplishment, and will end with a masterpiece of your own!

DRAWING FROM LIFE (nude model)

Instructor: Chris Protas
In this daylong workshop, you will draw the human form in its various shapes and postures. This kind of work can result in striking, emotional art. You will observe both clothed and nude models who will strike short poses for quick sketches and will remain stationary for more complete works. We will supply graphite, charcoal, and various papers, but you are welcome to bring other media. This workshop is for beginning artists who wish to learn life drawing, or returning artists ready for a challenge.

WATERCOLOR PAINTING I (PAW1)

Instructor: Brenda Jiral
This class is for the beginning or
returning watercolor artist, and involves the basics of getting started and beyond. You will better understand the process of wet-on-wet painting vs. glazing, as well as texture, composition, and color. Get the most out of your paint! Watercolors are luminous, forgiving, flexible, and fun if you know the basics. A supply list will be discussed the first day of class. If you have existing supplies bring them and we will see what you can use.

FUSED GLASS JEWELRY (JFG)
Instructor: Gini Cooper
Learn basic techniques for fusing glass jewelry. You’ll make earrings, pins, and pendants using frits, stringers, dichroic glasses, and photo-fusing paper to create rich sepia toned decals. No prior fusing experience is necessary. Use of tools and materials, including fusible glass, are included. Fusing is easy to do, even if you’ve never worked with glass before.

ART FOR ALL - DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ART CLASS (AFA)
Every Monday night from 6-7:30 PM, the Arts Council holds an art class for developmentally disabled adults. This guided art-making and dance time is a valuable resource for the community. Local artist & teacher May Van Ark founded Art for All twenty years ago and we continue the tradition today. The sessions are currently led by Holland Public Special Education Instructor Tamison Troff and her assistants including dance interns from Hope College. The cost is a very affordable $30.00 a month to cover supplies though scholarships are available. Community donations to support this program are welcomed. Cancellation:

Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment by the first session may be cancelled.  If a class is cancelled, students may transfer to another class or request a full refund.

Foul Weather Cancellation: Generally, the Arts Council cancels classes when the Holland Public Schools cancel.

Registration:
No spots are reserved without full payment or scholarship forms.

To receive a refund, student withdrawals must take place at least 5 business days prior to the start of the class. A $5 processing fee will be retained for withdrawals.

Withdrawals for a class credit must take place prior to the start of the second week of the class. A $5 processing fee will be retained for withdrawals.

Make-up Classes:
If a class is cancelled by the Arts Council, a make-up class will be scheduled.  Generally, make-up classes are held the week following the last scheduled class.
